Ambassador Saigo attended online event “Workshop on Sharing of Japanese Experiences for Strengthening of Farmers' Organizations in Nepal”
 
On December 18, 2020, Ambassador Saigo attended the online event “Workshop on Sharing of Japanese Experiences for Strengthening of Farmers' Organizations in Nepal,” which was organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Japan.
 
Ambassador Saigo mentioned that there have been various cooperation with Nepal in the agriculture sector via JICA and NGOs to date. He pointed out that the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Japan send missions twice in recent two years, which consisted government officials, researchers and business people for the research purpose.  He hoped this workshop will be beneficial for the agricultural cooperative in Nepal.
 
From Nepal side, Dr. Sharma Director General, Ministry for Agriculture and Livestock Development referred to that the agricultural cooperative will be an important pillar for the progress of Nepali agriculture and this workshop is a good opportunity to learn various experiences of Japan.
 
Advisor of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Japan, Mr SUEMATSU Hiroyuki recalled that as himself visited Nepal two years ago, he welcome to hear active discussions from both sides.
 
As a wrap up, Mr MATSUMOTO Masao, Councillor (Deputy Director-General for International Affairs) of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, Japan, thanked all for the fruitful discussions and it was good opportunity for him to learn issues, such as which Nepali agriculture cooperation has been facing today.
