Ambassador Kikuta: Message for Nepali New Year 2078

Happy Nepali New Year 2078! नेपाली नयाँ वर्ष २०७८ को शुभ-कामना !
I wish the New Year to be full of happiness for all. Even although we still face difficulties caused by COVID-19, we shall look forward to a better future together.
This spring marks six years since the 2015 Gorkha Earthquake. Since then, Japan has been assisting in the reconstruction of schools and residential homes in Nepal which were damaged by the earthquake.
For Japan, this year is the 10th anniversary of the Great East Japan Earthquake hitting Tohoku region in 2011. My hometown, Fukushima, is among the affected areas in Tohoku, so I renew my thanks to Nepal for her kindness at the trying time.
Thus, with these past experiences, I believe that we can cooperate better for the reconstruction of Nepal society based on the concept of “Build Back Better (BBB)” to support Nepal to be a more disaster resistant nation.
It is my great pleasure to share the happy moments of Nepali New Year celebrations with you here in Kathmandu. Please stay safe.
