Restoration of the cultural and historical temple in Patan Durbar Square damaged by 2015 Earthquake inaugurated (April 6, 2025)

On April 6, the Inauguration Ceremony of Shree Degu Taleju Temple was held at Patan Durbar Square in Lalitpur Metropolitan City. Rt. Hon. Mr. Ram Chandra Paudel, President of Nepal, Hon. Mr. Badri Prasad Pandey, Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation, the Government of Nepal, Hon. Mr. Chiri Babu Maharjan, Mayor of Lalitpur Metropolitan City, Hon. Mr. Kiran Man Pradhan, Chairman of Reconstruction Committee and H.E. Mr. MAEDA Toru, Ambassador of Japan to Nepal attended there. 
 
Shree Degu Taleju Temple is a significant religious site, recognized for its cultural and historical importance, and designated and preserved as a monument of World Heritage Site by UNESCO, which was damaged by Gorkha Earthquake 2015.  
 
This temple was restored with funds associated with Japanese assistance. Ten years after the earthquake, the original vitality of the citizens has returned to the place and continues to grow better. Ambassador Maeda expressed his sincere gratitude to all those involved and his hope that this temple will forever remain as a symbol of resilience as well as friendship between Japan and Nepal.
