Ambassador Hosts Send-Off Reception for New Japanese Scholarship Students
H.E. Mr. MAEDA Toru, Ambassador of Japan, hosted a send-off reception at his residence for Nepali students who will pursue their studies in Japan under the Japanese Government (MEXT) Scholarship, provided by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan.
The Government of Japan offers this scholarship to international students seeking higher education opportunities in Japan, including undergraduate and research programs, as well as specialized training and teacher training courses. Japan began selecting Nepali students for this scholarship in 1957, just one year after the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries. This spring, a total of six Nepali students, five research students and one undergraduate student will depart for Japan to strengthen their academic pursuits.
On the occasion, Ambassador Maeda congratulated the selected students and encouraged them to make the most of the excellent academic environment in Japan. He also urged them to go beyond their studies, experience different aspects of Japanese culture, and build meaningful friendships. He expressed his confidence that the knowledge and experiences they gain will enable them to contribute to Nepal’s development and strengthen the longstanding ties between Japan and Nepal.
Dr. Pawan K. Bhattarai, President of the Japanese Universities Alumni Association, Nepal (JUAAN), also shared valuable insights with the students, drawing from his own experiences of studying and living in Japan.
The Embassy is confident that these scholars will play a vital role as bridges between the two countries and contribute to further enhancing mutual understanding, friendship, and cooperation between Japan and Nepal.
