Japan Supports a New School Building to Shree Bheri Tribeni Secondary School in Jajarkot District
The handover ceremony of the classroom building supported by the Government of Japan to Shree Bheri Tribeni Secondary School (SBTSS) in Jajarkot District was held on May 27. Mr. Shinto Yasuharu Deputy Chief of Mission of Japan to Nepal, attended the ceremony.
Under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) of the Government of Japan, “The Project for the Reconstruction of Classrooms for SBTSS in Jajarkot District” was supported with USD 170,159 (approximately NPR 22.7 million).
On this occasion, Mr. Shinto ongratulated and expressed his appreciation for the efforts of all those involved in the project, emphasizing that the students will now have access to a safe and conducive learning environment.
Established in 1985, SBTSS serves as a key educational institution for nearly 500 students from Jajarkot and neighboring districts. The original school building was completely collapsed during major earthquake in November 2023. The newly constructed 12 room classroom building will significantly improve the learning environment for the students and further strengthen the enduring friendship between the people of Japan and Nepal.
The project was carried out by Volunteer Corps Nepal (VCN) through GGP of the Government of Japan. The organization was established in 2018 and has been actively working on socio-educational development, disaster relief, and volunteer activities across Nepal.
GGP was established to implement projects that directly benefit people at the grassroots level for the socio-economic development of communities. Since 1991, over 200 GGP projects have been completed in Nepal.
