Ambassador’s Commendation Award to the Nepal Mountaineering Association (August 20, 2026)

On August 20th, Ambassador Maeda presented the Ambassador’s Commendation to the Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) in recognition of its longstanding contribution to promoting mountaineering and tourism in Nepal’s mountain regions, and to strengthening the close friendship between Nepal and Japan through mountaineering. The spirit of reverence and respect for the mountains, and living in harmony with them, is a bond shared by Japan and Nepal. The award was received by Mr. Phur Gelje Sherpa, President of NMA, who expressed his appreciation for the recognition and highlighted the importance of the enduring relationship between Nepal and Japan.
