Today, October 8, at the request of the Government of Nepal and in view of the humanitarian perspective and the close relationship between Japan and Nepal, the Government of Japan has provided DNA testing equipment and reagents as additional emergency relief goods to Nepal in response to the damage caused by the recent flash flood. The emergency relief goods were officially handed over during a ceremony attended by representatives of both governments and JICA Nepal.
The Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, H.E. Mr. MAEDA Toru, handed over the emergency relief goods during a ceremony held at the Nepal Police Central Forensic Science Lab.
On the occasion, Ambassador Maeda expressed his condolences for the victims of the flash floods and landslides that occurred on August 26 in the areas near the Nepal-China border, and conveyed his heartfelt sympathies to their families and to all those affected by the disaster. He further said Japan stands in solidarity with Nepal and will do everything within its capacity to respond.
The Japanese government sincerely hopes these emergency relief goods will help identify the victims. It also hopes that recovery and reconstruction efforts in the affected areas will progress steadily, enabling the victims to resume their normal and peaceful lives as soon as possible.
