2025 MEXT Scholarships for Teacher Training Students

The Embassy of Japan announces the competitions for scholarships to Nepali teachers who wish to conduct research on school education in Japanese universities as Teacher Training Students for 2025 under the MEXT Scholarship Program.

2. Qualifications
Applicants must fulfill the following qualifications.
(1) Nepali nationals
(2) Under 35 years of age as of April 1st, 2025 (i.e. born on or after April 2nd, 1990)
(3) Graduates of universities or teacher training schools
(4) Have worked as teachers in primary/secondary schools or teacher training schools in Nepal for a total period of five years or more as of October 1, 2025
(5) Have secured at least 55% marks in Bachelor’s (and Master’s) degree
(6) Assure that they return to Nepal and resume their work as a teacher at his/her school
     * If a grantee does not satisfy the above qualification 2(6), he/she may be ordered to return the entire amount of the
         scholarship paid during the full scholarship period. Those who are uncertain about whether they will return and
         resume their work after the end of the scholarship period should not apply for this program.  


3. Contents of Training and Terms of Scholarship
The training consists of educational administration, educational methods, specialized subject research and observation tours and practice.
The scholarship period is the necessary period for the completion of the accepting university’s training course, which should be between October 2025 and March 2027. Extension of the scholarship period is not permitted.

4. Language
Applicant must be willing to learn the Japanese language, be interested in Japan and be willing to deepen their understanding of Japan after arrival there. The applicant must also have the ability to do research and adapt to living in Japan.
 
5. Application

(1) Please send the data of the documents listed below to education@km.mofa.go.jp by February 9th, 2025 at the latest. (For more detail, make sure you read Application Guideline.)

          *Use Course Guide of Teacher Training Program  (Guide 1Guide 2Guide 3) to fill the form. If you are concerned
           about whether the content of the course is consistent with the field of your specialty,  ask the university staff for
           confirmation before filling the form.
  1. Notarized copies of Academic Records (mark-sheets and certificates of Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree (completed applicants only))
  2. Certificate of Employment
  3. Recommendation letter from the immediate supervisor at work
  4. Notarized copy of Citizenship Certificate
  5. (2) Attachments for your email should be below 10MB, otherwise we cannot receive it.
    (3) Please use “[MEXT: Teacher] Surname_Givenname_Middlename” as a title of your submission email.
    (4) Please make sure to keep the original of the above documents. You will be asked to submit them and the Medical Certificate after the interview.

    7. Others
    A grantee who has completed a course at the accepted university will be given a certificate from the university. Please be aware that the purpose of this scholarship is not to obtain an academic degree.
