|
On 25th November, 2017, the Japanese Embassy and Japanese Language Teachers` Association, Nepal (JALTAN) successfully organized a Japanese Language Karaoke Competition at the Army Officers’ Club. The competition was jointly supported by the Japanese Association in Nepal; the Japanese Universities Alumni Association, Nepal (JUAAN), and the JICA Alumni Association of Nepal (JAAN). Conducted annually with the purpose of introducing Japanese culture to Nepali people, the competition drew a wide range of participants from the general public and among Japanese language learners.
With an audience of more than 450, the auditorium was filled with an atmosphere of energy, enthusiasm and anticipation, with all participants managing to impress the audience with songs of their choice. The participants’ vast talent was incredible, with some participants dressed according to the theme of the song, and other group performances displaying great creativity. There were 38 participants in total and Ms. Sonam Sherpa from the Peaceful Education Foundation came first in the competition.
The Japanese Ambassador to Nepal, H.E. Mr. Ogawa, attended the event and commented on the impressive performances by the participants, expressing best wishes for their future efforts in mastering the Japanese language and the art of karaoke. On a more serious note, the Ambassador stressed that there are fraudulent activities occurring frequently in Japan related to studies, so students who want to study in Japan should take care to avoid fake broker agencies and consultancies.
