Introduction:
Japanese Language Teachers Association Nepal (JALTAN) was established in 1998. It has 20 institute members and 120 individual members. Out of 20 institute members, 19 are from Kathmandu and one is from outside the valley in Pokhara.
The main objectives of JALTAN are as follows:
- To improve the teaching method of Japanese language teachers;
- To play a bridging role between Nepal and Japan;
- To coordinate Japanese Language related programs with the Embassy of Japan, and
- To spread Japanese language among the Nepali youths and introduce Japanese culture and life style to Nepalese people.
Main Activities:
- JALTAN plays a vital role in uniting the Japanese language institutes of Nepal through various activities, and introducing Japanese Language and culture to Nepal.
- One of the major activities conducted by JALTAN is a Japanese Language Speech Contest held every year for Japanese language students with an aim to develop their speaking skill and confidence.
- JALTAN conducts Japanese Language Teachers' Seminars for its members to give a new dimension to their profession and to develop their institutes.
- JALTAN conducts Japanese language proficiency tests (since 2000) in cooperation with the Embassy of Japan.
- JALTAN conducts an annual recreation program for members to establish relationship between new and old members.
