Books Donated to CNAS for the Promotion of Japanese Studies

The Center for Nepal and Asian Studies (CNAS) of Tribhuvan University known as the center for research and study of culture and heritage, Himalayan studies, South and East Asian studies, etc. was recently donated with books on Japan under the Special Support Program for Core Organization in Japanese Studies in South Asia through the Embassy of Japan.

Mr. Nirmal M. Tuladhar, Executive Director of CNAS, remarked that despite a hundred years of Japan-Nepal relations and cultural links, there is no institute or faculty in the university that promotes Japanese studies in Nepal. Therefore, now is the appropriate time for Tribhuvan University to promote Japanese studies. These donated books on Japanese art, culture, economy and politics will create an incentive for people to initiate Japanese studies.

Mr. Tuladhar also mentioned a plan for organizing a symposium on Japanese studies in future. Nepalese scholars and researchers who are engaged in Japanese studies, or studied in Japan under Japan Foundation's Fellowship Program, and Japanese professors on related subjects could be invited to the symposium. Former Nepalese students of Japanese universities who have studied social science and humanities can also contribute significantly in the proposed symposium.
