Noh Performance and Photo Exhibition

Aiming at the promotion of Japan, its traditional as well as contemporary cultures in Nepal, the Embassy of Japan is organizing Noh Performance by Tsurukameza under the titleExperience Japanese Culturein The Shanker Hotel, Lazimpat on Saturday, February 11, 2012.  The performance will be held from 11.00 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. on invitational basis.  Entry passes for Noh will be available at the Embassy from February 6 onwards on first come first served basis.

The audiences will have the opportunity to enjoy Noh (classical Japanese musical drama) in Kathmandu.  This type of drama has been performed in Japan since the 14th century.  Many characters are masked, with men playing both male and female roles.

After the Noh performance, Photo ExhibitionEast Japan: Rebuilding for a Better Tomorrow” will take place at the same venue.  The Exhibition will be open to the public from 1.00 p.m. to 5 p.m.  The same Photo Exhibition will be continued for a week (February 13~17) from 10.00 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. at the Hall of the Embassy of Japan in Panipokhari.

The exhibits will demonstrate the physical infrastructures of north-eastern Japan before and after the great earthquake and tsunami that severely hit Japan’s north-eastern part in March last year.

Such types of occasion will help promote cultural ties between the peoples of the two countries, which ultimately helps expansion of ever-growing friendly and cooperative relationships between Japan and Nepal in the 21st century.
