Statement by the Press Secretary/Director-General for Press and Public Relations, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on a United Nations Helicopter Crash in Nepal

The Government of Japan has learned with great sorrow the news that a helicopter engaged in United Nations political mission in Nepal (UNMIN) crashed in Nepal on March 3 (Mon), which has caused fatalities. Japan expresses condolences for those who were killed in the crash and sympathy to their bereaved families.
UNMIN has been playing an important role in the peace building efforts in Nepal. Japan has dispatched six officers of the Self Defense Forces as arms monitors to UNMIN. Japan intends to keep itself engaged in the peace building efforts in Nepal and to extend the utmost support.
