School Visit Program in Baglung and Mustang Districts
|
The Embassy of Japan, aiming at promoting Japan to the school children residing in remote areas of Nepal, organized School Visit Programs to Baglung and Mustang Districts, which are remote places in the Western Development Region.
In Baglung, two programs were organized. On May 26, the first program was conducted at Vidya Mandir Higher Secondary School, where 72 students from Grade 9 and five teaching staffs attended the program. All of those who attended were very happy to see the PowerPoint presentation and informative videos on Japan, its culture and lifestyle.
The second program was organized at Dhaulagiri Deaf School in the same district. A total of 129 deaf students from Class 1-9 and 18 teaching and administrative staffs from the school attended the program. The students, though all of them were deaf, liked the program very much. The program was transcribed in sign language by a teacher of the school.
On 27th May, another program was held at Yogendra Higher Secondary School in Tukche VDC of Mustang District. Tukche has sister-village relations with Toga-mura of Japan, and thus this program strengthened the interest towards Japan of the 75 students and 13 teaching staffs who participated.
The final program of the trip was organized at Jana Kalyan Lower Secondary School in Syang Village of Marpha VDC, Mustang. A total of 74 students and eight teachers eagerly attended the program.
Comparing the school visit programs in the Capital and in the remote villages such as those in Mustang and Baglung, students and teachers in the remote schools are more curious about Japan. The schools requested the Embassy to have at least two or three programs in one school. In addition, the schools requested that each program be longer in the future.
