226 volumes of TV programs produced by Japan Broadcasting Corporation (NHK) were provided to the NTV under the Cultural Grant Aid scheme of the Government of Japan in Japan's fiscal year 2006 to implement the Project for the Improvement of TV Programs of Nepal Television Corporation.
Coinciding the Golden Jubilee of the Establishment of the Diplomatic Relations between Japan and Nepal and considering the application made by the Government of Nepal; the Government of Japan has decided to provide this grant amounting to ¥26,600,000 to the Nepal Television. Since FY 1977 of Japan, the government of Japan has so far provided equipment to 16 different educational and cultural organizations in Nepal under the cultural grant aid scheme. This is the third time that Nepal Television received such grant. Earlier, NTV received Japanese Cultural Grant in 1990 and 1997 for educational TV programs and editing (dubbing) equipments.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony, Ambassador Mr. Mizuno expressed his hope that the programs will contribute to further promote cultural and educational activities in Nepal through NTV. He further said that the equipment will also prove to be yet another milestone in strengthening the ever-growing friendly and cooperative relationship between Japan and Nepal.
