Japan’s Assistance for The Project for Extension of the Community Health Center and Improvement of Medical Equipment
|
The Government of Japan has decided to extend financial assistance of US Dollars 90,909, equivalent to approximately Nepalese Rupees 9,447,263 to the Council of Community Health Services, a local NGO in Kathmandu. This financial assistance is extended under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) scheme of the Government of Japan in Japan's Fiscal Year 2015.
A Grant Contract relating to this project is signed and exchanged on 5th November at the Embassy of Japan in Nepal between His Excellency Mr. Masashi OGAWA, Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, and Mr. Hari Gopal Shrestha, Chairman of the Council of Community Health Services.
With the support of community people and doctors, the Council of Community Health Services, situated in the west of Kathmandu, is providing medical services and medicine at a low price to local people and patients from neighboring districts, especially poor people. With the population growth in Kathmandu, there is a growing need for medical services for poor people, and over 30,000 patients visit the center every year.
The Government of Japan will support through this Assistance to construct a building which will house the registration and pharmacy room and a patient’s waiting area, and will provide medical equipment such as an ultrasound machine and x-ray machine. It is expected this Project for the Extension of the Community Health Center and Improvement of Medical Equipment will improve the quality of medical services provided to patients.
The Embassy of Japan expects this project to be both a success and to enhance the cordial friendship between the peoples of Japan and Nepal.
