Japan's National Day Celebrated

H.E. Mr. Masashi Ogawa, Ambassador of Japan to Nepal hosted a Reception today to celebrate upcoming 81st auspicious Birthday of His Majesty Emperor Akihito at his official Residence, Tahachal.

Some 427 VVIP and VIP guests, including the Rt. Hon’ble Vice-President Parmananda Jha as a chief guest, Rt. Hon’ble Chairman of Constituent Assembly Mr. Subash Chandra Nemwang, Hon’ble Ministers for Foreign Affairs Mr. Mahendra Bahadur Pandey, Finance Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat, Information and Communications Dr. Minendra Rijal, Urban Development Dr. Narayan Khadka, Energy Mrs. Radha Gyawali, Education Mrs. Chitra Lekha Yadav, Commerce and Supplies Mr. Sunil Bahadur Thapa and Youth and Sports Mr. Purushottam Poudel, Ambassadors and Heads of International Organizations in Nepal, Members of the Constituent Assembly, high ranking government officials attended the reception. During the ceremony, a traditional Japanese music group headed by Ms. Sayoko Kamiyama played magnificent music with koto and shakuhachi, traditional Japanese musical instruments.

In Japan, Emperor is the symbol of the nation and the national unity. And the day of the Birthday of His Majesty Emperor Akihito, December 23, is also celebrated as the National Day of Japan.
