Japan Provides Books to TU Central Library
|
H.E. Mr. Tsutomu Hiraoka, Ambassador of Japan handed-over the books to the Central Library of Tribhuvan University today at a function organized at the Central Library. The books on history, culture, economics and politics are donated to the Library by the Japan Foundation under its Library Support Program.
The Japan Foundation is very special organization who promotes education and cultural exchanges between Japan and foreign countries. It is hoped that the donated books will be of much help to the Professors and students of the university as well as to the researchers in general. The Foundation has also made similar donations of books to the Library several times in the past.
On the occasion of books hand-over ceremony, Mr. Michihiro Narita, Lecturer of Japanese History at the Campus of International Languages of Tribhuvan University delivered a lecture on Japan-Nepal Historical Relations through Buddhism and Sanskrit to mark the Golden Jubilee of Japan-Nepal Diplomatic Relations.
It is to be noted that the Government of Japan has extended a cultural grant for the Supply of Microfilm and Book Binding Equipment to the TU Central Library in 2002 to preserve the historic materials through microfilms.
