Japan’s Assistance for the Project for Improvement of Medical Equipment in Damauli Hospital
|
The Government of Japan has decided to extend financial assistance of US Dollars 96,721, equivalent to approximately Nepalese Rupees 9,590,854 to Damauli Hospital, a government hospital in Tanahun District. This financial assistance is extended under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) scheme of the Government of Japan in Japan's Fiscal Year 2014.
A Grant Contract relating to this project was signed and exchanged today at the Embassy of Japan between H.E. Mr. Masashi Ogawa, Ambassador of Japan, and Dr. Bibek Kumar Lal, Medical Superintendent of Damauli Hospital.
Damauli Hospital is situated on the Prithvi Highway which connects Kathmandu and Pokhara. Therefore, many patients visit this hospital not only from Tanahun District but also from other districts. Due to this fact, sometimes the number of patients exceeds the capacity of the hospital. Therefore, the Government of Nepal has constructed a new ward at Damauri Hospital, which will open soon.
The Government of Japan will support to provide, through this Assistance, medical equipment such as an ECG machine and USG machine for this new ward. It is expected this equipment will improve the quality of medical services provided to local people.
The Embassy of Japan expects this project to be both a success and to enhance the cordial friendship between the peoples of Japan and Nepal.
