Ambassador and Madame Kaminaga Host Farewell Reception

On September 30, Ambassador and Madame Kaminaga hosted a reception at Yak and Yeti Hotel to bid farewell after three years of service in Nepal. A large number of guests attended the reception, including the Rt. Hon. Mr. Parashu Narayan Chaudhary, Chairman of Rajparishad Standing Committee, the Rt. Hon. Mr. Surya Nath Upadhaya, Chief Commissioner of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority, the Hon. Mr. Prakash Man Singh, Minister for Physical Planning and Works, the Hon. Mrs. Chitra Lekha Yadav, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives. Also attending were various cabinet ministers, heads of constitutional bodies and diplomatic missions.

In one corner of the reception hall was a display photographs that had been taken by Ambassador Kaminaga himself. These photographs reflected the rich natural beauty and culture that the Ambassador witnessed whilst traveling around Nepal. The display was highly appreciated by all of the guests.

Ambassador Kaminaga joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1967. During his long diplomatic career, he has assumed various positions at home and abroad. In addition to his earlier domestic positions as director of Cultural Affairs Division II and of Middle East Affairs Division I, he has also served as the Emperor's interpreter in the Imperial Household as well as visiting professor of Saitama University. Furthermore, he has authored many books, which include 'The Wisdom of Europe' and 'The Wealth of Asia'. In recent years, he has served his diplomatic assignments abroad in the Japanese Embassies of Indonesia, India and the Philippines. Before being appointed Ambassador to Nepal, he served as Japanese Ambassador to the Sultanate of Oman.

Ambassador Kaminaga left Nepal on October 11. The Ambassador and his family have a very high regard for Nepal, and it is expected that the Ambassador will further contribute to the enhancement of the relationship between Japan and Nepal in the future.
