Japan Provides Cultural Grant Aid to Nepal Television

The Government of Japan has agreed to extend a cultural grant assistance of twenty-six million and six hundred thousand yen ( 26,600,000), approximately sixteen million and thirteen thousand Nepalese Rupees (NRs.16,013,000) to the Government of Nepal for the Improvement of TV Programs of Nepal Television Corporation.
H.E. Mr. Tsutomu Hiraoka, Ambassador of Japan to Nepal and Mr. Vidyadhar Mallik, Secretary, Ministry of Finance of the Government of Nepal signed and exchanged the Notes today on behalf of their respective governments.
The grant assistance has been extended for procuring necessary programs to further enhance TV broadcasting of Nepal Television Corporation, thus enabling Nepal Television Corporation to promote culture and education in Nepal furthermore. It is expected to contribute to further promote its cultural and educational broadcasting which will benefit more than 15 million viewers of Nepal Television broadcast.
Since FY 1977 of Japan, the Government of Japan has been providing equipment to 16 different organizations in Nepal under this scheme, the cultural grant assistance which include Paleo-magnetic Equipment to the Central Department of Geology of the Tribhuvan University, Display Equipment to the National Museum, Offset Printing Machine to the Royal Nepal Academy, Sports Equipment to the National Sports Council, Microfilm and Book Binding Equipment to Nepal National Library and the Central Library of Tribhuvan University.
Speaking on the occasion, H.E. Mr. Hiraoka expressed his hope that the grant extended today will contribute to the further promotion of cultural and educational activities in Nepal. He further hoped that this support will also help strengthen the existing friendly and cooperative relationship between Japan and Nepal and its people.
