Japanese Alpinists Hit the New Records of Climbing Sagarmatha (Mt. Everest)

So many people around the world of all ages climb Sagarmatha every year. But this year Japanese man and woman in their 60s set a new record as the oldest man and woman to scale Everest.
Tomiyasu Ishikawa (65) succeeded in climbing Sagarmatha on May 17, 2002. He is the oldest man recorded to climb Sagarmatha successfully. In 1994 at 57 years old, he attempted to climb Everest and set a new world record as the oldest climber, but unfortunately, he failed to reach the summit.
Tamae Watanabe (63) succeeded in climbing to the top on May 16, 2002. She is the oldest woman to reach the top successfully. She began mountaineering at the age of 28 and has climbed eight huge mountains of the world including peaks of 8000 metres.
Jun Yamada (23), a university student, successfully climbed Sagarmatha on May 17, 2002. He is the youngest man on record to climb to the top of all the highest mountains in the seven continents - Africa, North America, South America, Europe, Australia, and Antarctic. This time he fulfilled his dream by climbing Mt.Everest, the highest mountain in the world that lies in Eurasia.
