Mrs. Kumiko Hashimoto inaugurated the Exhibition on November 22, 2006 at the Hall of the Embassy of Japan, Panipokhari. Also present at the ceremony were Ambassador Mr. Hiraoka, Rt. Hon. Mr. Subash Nemwang, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Mr. K.P. Sharma Oli, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister and Hon. The exhibition will remain open for public from November 23 to 25 from 9.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. except November 25 to 3.00 p.m.

The late H.E. Mr. Ryutaro Hashimoto, former Prime Minister of Japan and former Chairman of Japan-Nepal Parliamentarians' Friendship League as well as President of Cooperation Committee for 50th Anniversary of Japan-Nepal Diplomatic Relations was the true friend and admirer of Nepal. He has played an enormous role in developing bilateral relations between Japan and Nepal. The photographs in the exhibition were taken by H.E. Mr. Hashimoto, which reflect the rich natural beauty and cultural heritage of Nepal as well as his spirit of love and friendship towards this country.

The year 2006 marks the Golden Jubilee of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Japan and Nepal. To celebrate this 50th Anniversary, various programs have been organized throughout the year with recognition that 50 years of friendship is indeed an epoch-making achievement and with determination to build a new chapter of friendship for another 50 years and beyond. This exhibition is truly one among them.

It is hoped that the exhibition organized to mark this Golden Jubilee will surely play an important role in strengthening the friendly and cooperative relations that so happily exist between Japan and Nepal at the people's level.
