Tsudoi 2008

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs invited a total of 26 former students from Southwest Asia, Middle East, Central Asia and Mongolia who studied in Japan and held 'Tsudoi 2008' (Reunion of Former Students in Japan) from November 16 to 22. Former students who made use of their experience of studying in Japan and now work in various fields in their own countries were invited to Japan to promote networking among former students and alumni associations. The reunion also aimed at further strengthening the former students' role of building friendship between their countries and Japan by allowing them to rediscover Japan and renew acquaintances with those they met in Japan before.

Dr. Bim Shrestha, Associate Professor at KU and Dr. Rohit Pokherel, Orthopedic Surgeon at TUTH both being members of JUAAN (Japanese Universities Alumni Association, Nepal) participated in the reunion. During their stay in Japan, they exchanged information on the activities of the Japan alumni associations, visited industrial institutions and attended lectures by specialists which helped them update and deepen their understanding of Japan.

On behalf of Nepali participants, Dr. Shrestha made a presentation on 'The Role of JUAAN for the Promotion of Nepal-Japan Cooperation' in which he introduced the activities of JUAAN including Ikebana demonstration, Education Fair and Counseling on Study-in-Japan and the holding of a symposium: 'Contemporary Development Issues and Nepal-Japan Cooperation'. These activities of JUAAN were appreciated by the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the participants from other countries as a good example of activities of the alumni association. Nepali participants said that the program was fruitful and they were proud to be the graduates of Japanese universities.
