Japan Welcomes CA Term Extension

On behalf of the Government of Japan, the Embassy of Japan in Kathmandu wishes to express its heartfelt welcome to the political consensus reached at the Legislature-Parliament today to extend the tenure of the Constituent Assembly for another six months. The Embassy would also like to welcome the detailed time-bound calendar agreed among the major political parties in an effort to complete the peace process and the legislation of the new constitution within the extended tenure of the Constituent Assembly.

In this renewed spirit of mutual understandings and cooperation, the Embassy further wishes to encourage continued efforts in implementing the outstanding issues of the seven-point agreement, which was signed by the major political parties on November 1st 2011 and thus, produces a fresh momentum for further political development with a view to bringing the historical peace process to a successful conclusion.

The Government and people of Japan are ever ready to assist Nepal's efforts to this end, and are ready to go along with the people of Nepal, and also confident that the friendly and cooperative relations that so happily exist between our two countries will be further strengthened in the days ahead.
