Announcement on Japanese Government (Monbukagakusho:MEXT) Scholarship for 2004

The Government of Japan offers scholarship for Undergraduate Students and Postgraduate/Research Students for 2004 under the Monbukagakusho scholarship program as follows:
- Scholarship for Undergraduate Students
- Qualifications
Applicants must be Nepali nationals having the age of 17 to 21 years as of April 1, 2004 (i.e. born
on between April 2, 1982 and April 1, 1987), and Applicants must either have completed a twelve-year regular course of education or have graduated from a school equivalent to senior high school in Japan, and has secured 75% marks for Natural Science and 65% for Humanities and Social Science in aggregate in SLC & plus two exams.
- Fields of Study
Field of study must be the same that applicants had pursued in their final graduation.Applicants need to attach attested copies of certificates and mark-sheets along with the application.
Humanities and Social Sciences: Laws, Politics, Economics, Business Administration, Pedagogy, Sociology, Literature, History, Japanese language and others.
Natural Sciences A: Science (Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry) Electric and Electronic Studies (Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Information Engineering), Mechanical Studies (Mechanical Engineering, Naval Architecture, Environmental Engineering), Chemical Studies (Applied Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, Textile Engineering), and other fields (Metallurgical Engineering, Mining Engineering, Mercantile Marine, Biotechnology).
Natural Science B: Agricultural studies (Agricultural Chemistry, Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, Forestry, Food Science, Fisheries), Hygienic studies (Pharmacy, Hygienic, Nursing), Science (Biology)
Natural Science C: Medicine, Dentistry
- Application Forms Distribution
June 16-20, 2003 09:00-13:00 hrs.
- Terms of Scholarship
Five years from April 2004-March 2009 (seven years for medical/veterinary candidates).
- Scholarship Benefits
139,200 yen (This may be subject to change) per month will be given to each grantee, with the understanding that the scholarship will be suspended in the case in which grantee is long absent from the university.
- Scholarships for Postgraduate/Research Student
- Qualifications
Applicants must be Nepali nationals under 35 years of age as of April 1, 2004 (i.e. born on and after April 2, 1969) & has completed 16 years of education ( college graduate) & has secured 70% marks for Natural Science and 60% for Humanities and Social Science in aggregate at all level of exams.
- Fields of Study
Field of study must be the same that applicants had pursued in their final graduation.Applicants need to attach attested copies of certificates and mark-sheets along with the application.
Humanities and Social Sciences: Literature, History, Aesthetics, Laws, Politics, Economics, Commerce, Pedagogy, Psychology, Sociology, Music, Fine Arts etc.
Natural Sciences: Pure Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Fisheries, Pharmacology, Medicine, Dentistry, Home Economics etc.
- Application Forms Distribution
May 19-23, 2003 09:00-13:00 hrs.
- Terms of Scholarship:
Two years from April 2004 to March 2006 (extendable for masters/doctoral courses)
- Scholarship Benefits:
180,300 yen (This may be subject to change) per month will be given to each grantee during the term of his/her scholarship, in addition to air transportation to and from Japan, arrival allowance 25,000 yen(This may be subject to change), field study allowance, subvention for medical expenses etc.
