A brief introduction of the Recipients

1. Mr. Takashi MIYAHARA
Mr. Miyahara is a highly enthusiastic person in the field of Japan-Nepal tourism; promoting this for more than half a century.  As Managing Director of Trans Himalayan Tours Pvt. Ltd, and founder of Hotel Himalaya and Hotel Everest View, he is also a pioneer Japanese business man in Nepal. After obtaining Nepali citizenship in 2005, he has been actively engaged in politics in Nepal and also has made contributions in promoting the friendly relationship and mutual understanding between Japan and Nepal.

2. Dr. Kenjiro NARATO
Dr. Narato, an experienced Japanese medical doctor, has been involved in community based medical services in Hokkaido, Japan.  His engagement in Nepal started in 2005 as a Member of the NGO Japan Overseas Christian Medical Cooperative (JOCS). In 2011 he established his own NGO, ‘Cross’ to support Nepal in the medical field. Dr. Narato’s contribution has been significant in promoting mutual understanding for and to medical professionals and students of both Japan and Nepal.  In addition, his service to Japanese nationals in Nepal seeking medical support has been instrumental and noteworthy.

3. Dr. Basant PANT
Dr. Pant, a Medical School Graduate of Hiroshima University, introduced Nepali culture to the local community in Japan during his study there. Since his return to Nepal he has been involved in upgrading neurosurgery in Nepal.  His command of the Japanese language has helped many Japanese nationals in Nepal.  Currently Dr. Pant is the Chairman of the Annapurna Neurological Institute and Allied Sciences.

4. JAPAN UNIVERSITIES ALUMNAI ASSOCIATION, NEPAL (JUAAN)
JUAAN, established in 1974, has currently 253 registered members. It has continuously organized the annual Japan Education Fair to disseminate proper information about studying in Japan. JUAAN has been playing a leading role and has been proactively involved in conducting Japanese Language Speech Contests, spread over South Asian countries, along with the establishment of the ‘South Asian Federation of the Japanese Universities Alumni Associations (SAFJUAA)’.  JUAAN’s contribution in the academic field and in the field of mutual understanding between Japan and Nepal is highly recognized.
