Introduction:
Nepal and Japan are both ancient monarchies and modern democracies. Institute of monarchy is highly revered by the people of Nepal and Japan. There is an age-old close spiritual and cultural relationship between these two countries. Taking the friendship and warm cultural and diplomatic ties between Nepal and Japan into consideration, Nepal-Japan friendship and cultural Association was formally established on 10th April 1979. We wish our friends to know about the natural and function of this Association in a nutshell.
- Preambles:
This Association has come into existence to further help create an environment of peace and understanding between this two countries and ranging from the common mass of people to higher levels of mutual communication and interaction.
- Main objectives:
(1) Enhancing the cultural, religious and scientific exchange between the two
countries.
(2) Launching of activities directly or indirectly to further help the evolution of co-ordeal relations among the people of those two countries.
(3) Setting of Nepal Japan cultural and libraries, in order to disseminate information about a general life style of both the countries.

(The financial sources mentioned above are not regular feature of the Association. Cultural activities specially the bi-national cultural activities usually get very lukewarm response from government or non-government bodies in Nepal.)
- Regular Activities:
- Publication of annual Magazine "Sakunaga"
- Celebration of the Nepal Japan week (on the auspicious occasion of His Imperial Majesty
Akihito on Dec 23, and birthday of His Majesty Late King Birendra on Dec. 29 )
- Participation in Nepal Japan kite flying and designing competation
- Organizing addition programs on the special occasion of both the countries
- Promotion of cultural exchange both Nepal and Japan
- Special Activities:
Celebration of special religious festivals and carnivals.
- Memorable Financial Contribution From the Embassy on Japan:
From the beginning of the Association in 1979 to 1987, the Embassy of Japan made a memorable financial contribution toward the observance of Nepal Japan evenings. The Association felt greatly inspired and encouraged by the Embassy generous attitude.
