3rd SAFJUAA Reunion in Kathmandu
JUAAN, supported by the Embassy of Japan, hosted the South Asian Federation of Japanese Universities Alumni Associations (SAFJUAA) symposium on March 13 and 14 at the Embassy hall. Delegates from alumni associations from Bangladesh, India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka participated in a 2-day program with the great enthusiasm.
In the meeting the participants discussed on the sustainability of SAFJUAA as an organization and its various activities. As the outcome of the meeting, they affirmed
commitment to strengthen its relationship with South Asia and Japan, and decided to promote its vision that SAFJUAA shall be a driving force in achieving and also sustaining long term peace and prosperity among member nations integrating their effort through SAFJUAA as a common platform. They agreed to hold the fourth SAFJUAA meeting in Pakistan.
On March 14, the Imanishi Memorial Fellowship Trust Award presentation ceremony was held with the participation of Honorable Dr. Minendra Rijal, Minister for Federal Affairs, Parliamentary Affairs, Constituent Assembly and Culture, Ambassador Mr. Mizuno, delegates from SAFJUAA and JUAAN members. This year's Imanishi Fellowship was awarded to Dr. Prem Prasad Paudel and Dr. Khada K.C. for their researchoriented thesis entitled 'Landslide Hazard in Nepal and Japan' and 'Modernization, Democratization-Nepal and Japan', respectively.
The fellowship is awarded once a year for excellent research works on Japan-related studies in social science, humanities, Nepal-Japan relations and research on applied science.
